A rare disease characterized by progressive shrinkage and degeneration of the tissues beneath the skin, usually on only one side of the face (hemifacial atrophy) but occasionally extending to other parts of the body.
Two patients aged 21 and 50 years presented with facialhemiatrophy and unilateral spasms of the masticatory muscles.

Those findings are compatible with Romberg's facialhemiatrophy diagnosis, motivating discussion of several aspects of this rare disease according to the account and literature.
