One of the trees was a bitternut and the other a pignut.

Of this group of trees we have the shellbark, shagbark and pignut.

The mocker-nut, pignut, and hairy hickory, perhaps adapt themselves best to sandy soils.

Shagbark or pignut are probably the best species to plant.

I have made crosses back and forth between shagbark, bitternut, mocker-nut, pignut, and pecan.
