This frequently is an epistaxis, or a bleeding from hemorrhoids, or in women profuse menstruation or a metrorrhagia.

Observation: A 72 year-old woman treated 28 years earlier for a breast cancer (conservative treatment and ovarian castration through radiotherapy) presented with metrorrhagia.

If it occurs between the monthly periods it is called Metrorrhagia, womb-bleeding at any time, especially between the periods.
