In 1947 Gillespie was introduced to influential Afro-Cuban jazz percussionist Chano Pozo by Mario Bauza, a Latin jazz trumpet player.

Tonight Round Midnight plays music from Harry Whiitaker, Nate Morgan, Joe Torres and Cal Tjader, and features master percussionist and Afro-Cuban jazz legend Poncho Sanchez.
