Wiccan festival celebrating the return of Spring.
Ostara and Eostre are both Germanic names of the Maiden Goddess as lady of the dawn.
The rocks may perhaps have been called Eastern or Eostern-stones, and may have been dedicated to Ostara.
Maypoles are sometimes used as part of the Ostara festivities, and these represent the phallus of the Young God.
Ostara also has strong feminine connotations and is sacred to the Maiden Goddess as well as the Young God.
Ostara is a solar Sabbat and is sacred to the Young God, lord of the rising sun and of life.
Ostara was goddess of bright dawn, of rising light, and awakening spring, as Hel of subterranean night, the darkness of the underworld.
