In five patients with viable colon, a sigmoid resection and primary anastomosis was carried out.

In both cases we performed a sigmoid resection with a primary anastomosis and small vesical window-ectomy placing a Foley catheter for about 10 days.

All patients had viable colon; 7 patients had a sigmoid resection and primary anastomosis, 2 patients had sigmoidopexy and one patient underwent a near-total colectomy.

Sigmoid resection and primary repair have comparable morbidity if appropriately individualized.
