Christian villagers hope the completion of the two new churches will encourage more of their community back.

Several hundred people are feared to have been killed in recent clashes involving Muslim herders and Christian villagers.

It called for a credible investigation into what it said had been a massacre of at least 200 Christian villagers.

The dispute broke out after Coptic Christian villagers built a fence around land next to a church-run building, the state news agency MENA reported.
