This competition is organised with the Social and Economic Committee , and the Committee of the Regions of the European Union.

Where it considers that specific regional interests are involved, the Committee of the Regions may issue an opinion on the matter.

The Government has announced its nominees to the EU Committee of the Regions, an assembly that gives advice on EU legislation and policy.

ARTICLE 198b The Committee of the Regions shall elect its chairman and officers from among its members for a term of two years.
