Hither in dreams came often the man with the dead soul.

Therefore, Sacraments of the dead mean Sacraments given to a dead soul, that is, to a soul in mortal sin.

God help him, over whose dead soul in his living body must be uttered the sad supplication, Requiescat in pace!
