Metabolic resistance in the economically damaging crop weed species Lolium rigidum is well known but a molecular understanding has been lacking.

We find that the germ of corn is quite different from that of lolium, and we do not believe in any transmutation.

Lolium perenne.- Ayoungstem, 7 inches in height, consisting of 3 internodes, with the flower-headnot yet protruded, was selected for observation.
