Traffic flowed on Nairobi's usually gridlocked streets but an increasing number of businesses opened.

The governor of Jakarta, the capital, says this will further choke his city's gridlocked streets, and strangle growth.

The project, aimed at easing congestion in Dar es Salaam's gridlocked streets, is expected to benefit around 500,000 people in the city of 4 million.
