Median CEO Pay at S&P 500 companies totaled $10.8 million in 2015, according to pay research firm Equilar Inc.

Median CEO base salary reached $1.2 million among the largest U.S. companies by revenue in 2018, according to Equilar.

Consumer companies cut the median CEO pay by 50.8 percent, financial companies by 51.1 percent, and technology companies by 59.2 percent, it said.

In comparison with the 1.3 percent median CEO pay increase, the S&P 500 stock index rose about 8 percent during the year, including dividends.
