Eight of the lesions were polypoid, based in the papillary dermis with extension to the superficialdermis and associated with an epithelial collarette.

The biopsy specimen obtained from the face demonstrated the epidermis was normal, while the superficialdermis contained sheets of histiocytes with abundant, focally foamy cytoplasm.
