Celtic sea god; son of Llyr.
Manawyddan and Cigfa peacefully occupied themselves through the seasons of the year.
And Manawyddan waited for him till near the close of the day.
Now the men that escaped were Pryderi, Manawyddan, Taliesin, and four others.
Manawyddan was grieved also in his heart, and said to her:
One morning Pryderi and Manawyddan ranged their dogs and went forth to hunt.
The great Sea God was Manawyddan, the son of Llyr.
Nothing Manawyddan could say would divert Pryderi from this plan.
And after his return Pryderi and Manawyddan feasted and took their ease and pleasure.
But the counsels of Manawyddan prevailed, and they moved by night to another city.
Manawyddan, beside himself with joy, hailed them and welcomed them.
And for all the counsel that Manawyddan gave him, yet to the castle he went.
The hours slid by, and all was still, so still that Manawyddan well-nigh dropped asleep.
Angharad smiled and, closing her eyes, began the tale known as "Manawyddan's Revenge."
Pryderi greeted his wife and mother, then introduced them to his sword brother, the great Manawyddan.
Manawyddan, meanwhile, waited for his friend outside the entrance to the caer, but refused to go inside.
They had not travelled far when Manawyddan asked his friend to tell him more about his mother.
