Prep your face by washing with your normal cleanser.

Then you can follow with your normal cleanser to actually cleanse the skin and remove grime from your pores.

In an ideal world, you would then properly cleanse your face again with your normal cleanser to actually clean your pores.

But then I got in the shower, rinsed the product off and cleansed my skin a second time with my normal cleanser.

Some people like to "pre-cleanse" with an oil or oil-based cleanser first to remove makeup, then they use their normal cleanser.
