Leaders of the five full MSG members have been divided over whether to grant the West Papuans full membership.

It's been two-and-a-half years since the last full MSG leaders summit in Honiara, with a number of leaders' meeting deferred.

These include the motion by Vanuatu for the granting of full MSG membership to the United Liberation Movement of West Papua.

He had also been preparing for an upcoming Melanesian Spearhead Group meeting to deliberate on the Liberation Movement's bid for full MSG membership.

It was attended by leaders and officials from the other four full MSG members: Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Fiji and New Caledonia's FLNKS Kanaks Movement.
