This study aimed to understand patients' and staff's experiences of an orthopaedic trauma trial.

Objectives: To compare orthopaedic trauma volume and mechanism of injury before and during statewide social distancing and stay-at-home directives.

Results: The questionnaire was completed by 63 orthopaedic trauma surgeons representing 28 countries and 14 US states.

Conclusion: To our knowledge, this is the largest data set characterizing global COVID-19 situations and responses of orthopaedic trauma practices around the world.

These were i) navigating research with patients after orthopaedic trauma, ii) knowing that it is the right decision and iii) making it work.
