In the twentieth chapter of Proverbs v. 17, we find the maxim:

Better late than never may be a maxim suitable to the circumstances.

His maxim, however, is one that all ministers for finance live by.

But through it all, one maxim remains vital for every decision desk.

This maxim was constantly borne in mind by himself and his colleagues.
