1The places of the four great topes have been fixed, and handed down without break, since Buddha attained to nirvâna.
2The Pratyeka Buddha heard their words, and immediately attained to nirvâna; and hence this place was named "The Park of the rishi's Deer-wild."
3With birth there comes the rush of sorrows, only in Nirvâna is there joy.
4Leaving the state of Samâdhi, his soul without a resting-place, forthwith he reached Nirvâna.

12Then Buddha spake to Pisuna: "The time of my complete deliverance is at hand, but let three months elapse, and I shall reach Nirvâna."
13For with these animals does no man reach the untrodden country (Nirvâna), where a tamed man goes on a tamed animal-onhis own well-tamedself.
