The places of the four great topes have been fixed, and handed down without break, since Buddha attained to nirvâna.

The Pratyeka Buddha heard their words, and immediately attained to nirvâna; and hence this place was named "The Park of the rishi's Deer-wild."

With birth there comes the rush of sorrows, only in Nirvâna is there joy.

Leaving the state of Samâdhi, his soul without a resting-place, forthwith he reached Nirvâna.

Then giving up his life, he reached Nirvâna, as when the rain puts out a little fire.

A wise and well-behaved man who knows the meaning of this should quickly clear the way that leads to Nirvâna.

"Gwynvyd" is the world of perfect and liberated souls, eternal Heaven, great Nirvâna.

Then Buddha spake to all his followers: "This my very last disciple has now attained Nirvâna, cherish him properly."

"Do you know of any one who attained Nirvâna?"

If, like a shattered metal plate (gong), thou utter nothing, then thou hast reached Nirvâna; anger is not known to thee.

Hunger is the worst of diseases, the elements of the body the greatest evil; if one knows this truly, that is Nirvâna, the highest happiness.

Then Buddha spake to Pisuna: "The time of my complete deliverance is at hand, but let three months elapse, and I shall reach Nirvâna."

For with these animals does no man reach the untrodden country (Nirvâna), where a tamed man goes on a tamed animal-onhis own well-tamedself.
